Fanny Wilkinson plaque to be unveiled (finally)

We are absolutely delighted that a blue plaque to commemorate the contribution that Fanny Wilkinson, designer of Vauxhall Park and Myatts Field Park, amongst many other open spaces in London, and the first female landscape designer will be installed this summer.  The plaque will be unveiled in early June by renowned garden designer Rachel de Thame on the flat that Fanny lived in at 239/241 Shaftesbury Avenue, London WC2 not far away from where Millicent Fawcett, that other great lady connected to Vauxhall Park lived on Gower Street.   Our recent improvement works realigned the path that ran along Lawn Lane back to Fanny’s original design (on the left hand side of this photo copyright Historic England)  just in time for her blue plaque!
